Mesa Community College will be hosting an event on campus that is sure to benefit all American Indian students who are in need of financial aid information. The American Indian center and the Financial Aid office are sponsoring a Financial Aid Open House Feb. 17, from 1-6 p.m. in the Navajo Room, which is located in the Kirk Center.

Think Globally
The Center for Global Tolerance and Engagement is kicking off its spring semester on Feb. 9, with a lecture entitled, “What is Sustainable Development?” The lecture will take place from noon to 2 p.m., and will be located in the Mesa Community College library on the Southern and Dobson campus in room LB145.
The Center for Global Tolerance and Engagement will also be holding a table talk Student/Faculty Colloquium on Religious Issues. The topic will be: Small is Beautiful: A Religious Economics in the Kiva room Feb. 10, from noon to 1:15 p.m. The facilitators for this event will be Keith Crudup and Tom Shoemaker.
Improving (and Preventing?) Refugee Conditions will be the theme for the Center for Global Tolerance and Engagement lecture Feb. 15. The meeting will be in LB145 from 6-9 p.m. For more information, call the Philosophy and Religious Studies Department at Mesa Community College at (480) 461-7616.

Jan. 5
A staff member reported that someone had stolen a digital camera from the Student Services counter sometime within the past two weeks. Review of the video from the Kirk Center cameras showed a male subject taking the camera and concealing it in his pocket at 12:02 p.m. on Dec. 27. An investigation is continuing to identify the suspect.

Jan. 6
Three separate victims reported the theft of their purses from various offices in the Theatre Outback by suspect(s) unknown at 2:24 p.m. It appears that the theft occurred between 12:55 and 1:30 p.m. A Caucasian male, 6’3,” weighing approximately 230 pounds, in his 50’s, was seen in the area around that same time period. The investigation is continuing in an effort to identify the suspect.

Jan. 7
A student reported at 4:35 p.m. that her vehicle was broken into some time after 7:30 a.m. that morning while it was parked in lot C, near the stadium. The suspect(s) broke out the passenger side rear window and removed various items of stereo equipment. An investigation is underway.

Jan. 14
Two students were involved in a minor non-injury motor vehicle accident in lot C at 4:35 p.m. Information was exchanged between the drivers.

Jan. 18
A student reported 11:00 a.m. that her vehicle was damaged, possibly in a hit and run accident, while it was parked in lot C earlier that morning. No suspect information is available.
There were three requests for medical assistance during this period, one involving a student and two involving visitors. One patient was transported to the hospital.
