Incident Log


Custodial staff reported criminal damage and graffiti in the LA men’s restroom. Investigation continues.


Three non-students were observed by College Safety officers as they attempted to steal an electric cart from the AD building. The suspects abandoned the cart south of the stadium and fled south on foot. The officers coordinated a search with Mesa Police and all of the suspects were arrested near Fiesta Mall and held on theft charges.


College Safety officers responded to the BP building on a report of a student disturbing. Investigation revealed that a student yelled and swore at an instructor following a discussion on registration for a class. The student left the area prior to the arrival of the officers. A report was forwarded to the Dean of Student Services. Two students were involved in a minor non-injury motor vehicle collision in lot J, west of the the SC building. Relevant information was exchanged between the drivers.


A non-student was contacted in the library by a College Safety officer regarding a report the subject was viewing objectionable material on a college computer. The subject was asked to leave and not return to the campus.


DPS officers contacted College Safety concerning a hit and run accident with injuries that occurred on U.S. 60 at Loop 101. The driver responsible for causing the accident had fled the scene on foot and was believed to be on campus. She was located by officers a short time later in the library and was turned over to the DPS officers. She refused medical treatment for facial injuries she received in the collision.


While pulling out of a parking space near the M&O compound a visitor to the HIC center inadvertently stepped on his vehicle’s accelerator and struck two parked cars before
running into the south side of the building. No injuries were reported. Information was exchanged between the owners. A minor non-injury motor vehicle accident occurred in lot L, south of the HIC center, when a vehicle struck a parked car. Information was exchanged between the owners.


A staff member reported that she left her purse in her unsecured office in the BP building and reported it missing after she returned to the office in the early afternoon. No suspect(s) are known.


A visitor reported that while he was working out in the fitness center, person(s) unknown forced open his locker and stole his cash and a debit card from his wallet. A student was contacted in the library by a campus police officer after staff member observed him viewing objectionable material on a college computer. The student was asked to leave the library.

Spotlight

Mesa Community College’s Theatre Outback will be holding auditions for their upcoming production of Kill Joy Aug. 24 and 25, from 3:30-5 p.m. and from 7-9 p.m. All auditions will be located in the Green Room of the Theatre Outback in Room 2, which is in Building 29. Written by Jerry Mayer, Kill Joy is billed as a wildly entertaining, adult oriented comedy-thriller involving dysfunctional relationships, murderous mayhem and illicit sexual conduct. Who is cheating on whom? This play is definitely intended for mature audiences. Directed by Linda Thorpe, Kill Joy will run at the Theatre Outback Oct. 6-8, at 7:30 p.m., with a matinee on Oct. 9, at 2 p.m.

The Edge 103.9 Arizona’s independent radio station will be visiting Aug. 24 at Southern and Dobson campus from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. near MCC’s clock tower.They will be setting up a booth where the radio station will be handing out free stuff. On Aug. 25 The Peak 98.7 Radio Station will also be stoping by from noon to 1 p.m. near the clock tower. Expect another booth and more giveaways for your disposal.


Roots Records presents “Simple People” a band from Utah. They will be performing Aug. 24 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Southern and Dobson campus. The band also will be playing at the Red Mountain campus Aug. 25 from 1 to 2 p.m. It’s a free live concert performance to welcome students back to campus.


Near the clock tower on Aug. 26 at 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. there will be a United Blood Services drive. For more information on this event, contact Trinity Blackwell in Student Life at (480) 461-7218.
