On March 2-4, Mesa Community College kicks off its third
annual independent film festival at the Harkins Center Point 11 Theater in
downtown Tempe.
This year the college will be airing the powerful “Qatsi Trilogy”
written by Godfrey Reggio.
Each film is a virtual music video, a photo depiction overlaid with music,
showing viewers the affects modern technology has on cultures and the environment.
Music in the films was created by Phillip Glass, who many consider to be one
of the greatest American composers.

This season has not been or looked very promising for
snowboarders or skiers in Arizona.
This is attributed to the lack of proper conditions on the local mountains
for snowboarding and skiing. Unfortunately, for local skiers and snowboarders
many of Arizona’s ski resorts are closing early or were not even open
at all this season.

In efforts to raise money for scholarships and other needs
in their department, the MCC theater department was home to a performance
of “Acardius,” a play written by MCC alumni Eric Holmes.
Toward the end of every school year, a play is performed and the proceeds
go to the theater department.

Think about how many movies people have watched in the
past month.
The countless hours spent in front of the television or computer.
These are all common forms of entertainment that most college students are
engaging in these days, sometimes for as many hours per week that a full-time
job might provide.
