ASMCC has nothing to hide

I am quite disappointed in the editorial staff at the Mesa Legend after reading the editorial chastising the advisor staff of the office of the ASMCC. I take exception that the Legend thinks ASMCC has something to hide from the student body.
It has been my observation that Jeffery Linford will answer any question that is within his knowledge when asked by any student on the spot. The concern here is questions asked by a body that will print the “on-the-spot” answer in the student paper. Make a misstatement to one individual and a quick correction makes it right. Make the same mistake in print and 30,000 students and friends will need to be informed of the correction.
Jeffery Linford as president of ASMCC runs a fine office and is supported by Executive Vice president Justin Rouzaud, Vice president of fiscal Affairs Franziska Spiewok and Vice president of Communications Emily Threet, along with two well qualified and dedicated advisors from student life, Alison Whiting and Doug Shumway. Together these people form a formidable team that focuses on inspiring the learning experience of the Student Body.

Bush’s actions are pro-death

President Bush is “pro-life” on the abortion issue. But he is clearly “pro-death” in opposing life saving stem cell research, cutting Medicaid benefits, resisting expanded health insurance coverage, ignoring 35 million Americans below the poverty level, opposing stronger gun control laws, weakening endangered species laws, overlooking thousands of annual global warming related deaths, and in not promoting greater penalties for cigarette companies. He was further pro-death in a slow response to hurrican Katrina.
Globally, about a million people die monthly from malnutrition or lack of clean water. Many of these lives could be saved for literally a few cents per day. With no real effort to save these lives, President Bush is not only pro-death but also pro-famine. How can so many millions of Americans be so deceived by all these positions of this pro-death president?
