Tough test lies ahead for T-birds in
playoffs

Mesa’s Arturo Donzella’s fast and furious shooting
was just what the Thunderbirds needed in a heated overtime win against Scottsdale
on Feb. 22.
Donzella scored 21 points, including a much needed two pointer that put the
game into overtime, where the Thunderbirds pull out a 75-65 victory over the
rival Artichokes.

Men’s soccer team faces 3rd coach in three years

When the MCC men’s soccer team returns to action
in the fall of 2006, it will have a new coach for the third consecutive
season.
Bowing out after one season at MCC is Jeff Perry, who was brought on before
the 2005 season to coach the men’s side after Tim Barmettler moved
to coaching only the women’s team, having previously overseen both.
Top Thunderbirds make move to next
tier in college sports

With the end of the school year in sight, many MCC athletes
will find themselves in jerseys of a different color come next season.
Whether they have finished two years or are leaving early, these Thunderbirds
will be leaving Mesa to advance their athletics careers. However, MCC coaches
are already recruiting new players to fill in the gaps.

The Thunderbirds wasted little time edging Scottsdale
Community College, defeating the Artichokes, 58-54 on Feb. 22.
It was the third consecutive win for MCC and helped lift the team to second
place in the ACCAC Division II standings.
’05 star to lead men’s
golf; small roster limits women

teams are ready to kick off another season.
With 12 players, the men’s team has great depth and features several
stand out players, including sophomore T.J. Rickerd.
