The deadline for taxes is April 17. Many students will wait until the last minute, to file their taxes. However now students can prepare taxes with trained professionals on campus.
Four Volunteer Income Tax Assistance sites have been provided to help students as well as members of the community, to file their taxes. Taxpayers must bring valid identification and all wage statements. VITA will assist in filing for federal and state returns free of charge. VITA will be available on campus until April 10.
Other businesses that offer tax help such as H&R Block and Jackson Hewitt are available until April 17. These businesses do charge and prices vary among the complexity of the return.
Students looking for an easier and faster way to file taxes can turn to sites on the Internet for help. Turbo Tax, Easy E Tax Return, and E Smart Tax are just a few websites that offer step-by-step instructions to file taxes.
