Tanning beds have greater risk than sunlight

Summer is around the corner and students are likely to enjoy the fun in the sun whether it’s surfing, scuba diving, or getting tan. Being in the sun for long periods of time, even if it doesn’t burn, can lead to skin cancer.

College Safety seeks to carry guns

One of the most significant things to learn after high school is to learning to manage personal finances. Unfortunately, this is not usually taught in a college class. Whether they live with mom and dad or on their own, many students work part-time and full-time jobs while they are enrolled in college. But when that paycheck comes, they don’t know what to do with their money?

Theft of bikes rising; U-locks recommended

The number of bike thefts had decreased over the last few years until this spring.
“In the last two to three years there has been approximately four bikes stolen a semester. Since January 1st ... there have already been nine bikes reported stolen” said Capt. Lynn Bray of MCC’s College Safety Department.

 


Aramark to manage Jazzland
T-bird Cafe served by same food group

Aramark, a company that provides food services, management, and uniform apparel has signed a contract to take over operations at Jazzland Cyber Café.
Aramark already provides and manages the many different dining options in the Thunderbird Café.


Luxury condos to boost west Mesa

High rise buildings with luxury condos are planned for west Mesa to improve the quality of housing to the community.
If the project is approved by the Mesa City Council, ground breaking will begin late 2006.

 


Lack of sleep damages students’ grades and health

College students are familiar with not getting enough sleep. Between balancing work, school and social life, catching enough sleep can sometimes seem like another task to accomplish rather than a necessity.

MCC students interested in making the change to a four year university have the opportunity to make informed decisions through Transfer Services.
Included in the services that Transfer Services offer are transcript evaluation, education planning and GPA calculation. This helps students pick the proper classes to transfer to a university.
