NEWSLuxury condos to boost west Mesa
High rise buildings with luxury condos are planned for west Mesa to improve the quality of housing to the community.
If the project is approved by the Mesa City Council, ground breaking will begin late 2006.
The buildings will be called Fiesta Towers, developed by Roszak/ADC, a company based out of Chicago.
Fiesta Towers will be located on the corner of Grove and Westwood avenues. The Financial Plaza or the Bank of America Building is currently the only high rise building.
According to Aaron Masliansky, a spokesman for Roszak/ADC, Fiesta Towers will consist of two 10 story builings and two 19 story buildings.
“We will have ground floor retail in each building and residential condos above,” Masliansky said.
According to Thomas Roszak, the president of Roszak/ADC, his company chose West Mesa because the area is close to the Banner Desert Samaritan Hospital, Highway 60 and Fiesta Mall.
Roszak considered the location’s economic state to be “under served or not served.”
“There will be an economic base to draw into,” said Tom Elsworth, of the Mesa Planning Division.
The Fiesta Towers are planned to attract a wealthier crowd. The area will become a destination spot after the construction of the luxury condominiums, Roszak said.
Roszak/ADC has the ability to increase amount of units from 540 to 850 if there is a high demand for the condominiums, according to Musliansky.
The first occupancy in the Fiesta Towers will be in Fall 2007. Prices for the condominiums will be from $200,000 to $700,000.
Donald Harris, an MCC student worries the rent at local apartments will rise as a result of the Fiesta Towers.
“The developer should be required to build living quarters for the medium and lower class people,” Harris said.
However, Fiesta Mall is looking forward to the increase in business from the Fiesta Towers.
The project is an opportunity for Fiesta Mall to improve, said Michelle Peters, the senior of marketing at Fiesta Mall.
“We’re very exited about this project.” Peters said “It’s a great new added component for this Fiesta District.”
