Taking the theater fast track
Summer program provides speedy degree

Fast Track is a brand new theater program being offered to all MCC students. The program offers four classes Monday through Friday from May 30 to June 29.
Students who complete “Fast Track” will receive three college credits for each course.
The classes offered in “Fast Track” are required pre-requisites for a degree in Fine Arts at any major university.
“Fast Track gives students an opportunity to get their first year requirements in an associates in Fine Arts degree out of the way in just five weeks”, says Kevin Dressler part of the theater faculty.
Students who complete “Fast track” will not only get all their pre-requisites out of the way in just 5 weeks but will also pay nearly half the price of tuition as a four-year college.
“All theatre classes are transferable to any four-year college not just Fast Track”. Dressler said.
“Fast Track” classes are held in the Theatre Outback building from 8 a.m. to 5:40 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
A technical theatre lab is also required on Friday morning before noon.
The course schedule consists of Introduction to Tech. Theater, which teaches a basic background in lighting, sets, costumes and basic theater terminology.
Intro to Theater, which teaches students how to research plays and characters.
Acting 1, which helps students learn to develop their character and find their process in creating a character.
Lastly “Fast Track” offers a Theater Makeup class, which is teaches standard corrective, old age, fantasy, and special effects make-up.
“People only get their make-up done when doing TV or film, but in theater actors have to apply it themselves, therefore this class provides a lesson in all aspects of make-up application,” said Dressler.
“It is also a good class for anyone interested in becoming a professional make-up artist.”
On June 29th, the last day of classes, the Acting 1 class will showcase their talents through a public performance held at MCC.
Tuition for “Fast Track” is $60 per credit. The total tuition cost is $720 for 12 credits, plus a $5 registration fee and a $15 fee for make-up supplies.
