Director prepared to face challenges

A new director as been appointed to oversee the MCC Fire Science program as it continues to grow at the Red Mountain campus.
Ron Knight, a retired firefighter from the Chandler Fire Department, began his tenure as director in January with the start of the Spring 2006 semester.

For most students, college is a time where their opinions and ideologies begin to take hold in their lives. In the recent firestorm of political contention, many students are voicing their opinions more firmly than ever before.

Students seek personal space

Working more hours, asking their parents for help, or even taking up a second job is what students are doing so they can move out of their parents’ house and into their own.
If they are not renting a house with several other friends, than they are signing a lease at an apartment complex.

 


Jury duty: Skipping out on civic duty

Jury duty, just those two words alone causes unwelcome reaction from many people.
“I said that I suffer from irritable bowel syndrome,” Nick Kaiser an MCC student said. “That’s what I used to get out of my last jury summons.”

 


Disney’s Magic Kingdom offers student internships

Students interested in participating in a paid internship at Walt Disney World Florida can attend the Disney College Programs Recruiting Presentation. The presentation will be held at MCC on April 19, at 2:00 pm in the Kiva Room.

 


Human sexuality class attracts curious students

Classes about human sexuality are attracting college students interested in related careers, and the curious.
“I think students take it (the class) more as exploration,” said Susan Horton, a professor in the psychology department who teaches the course. “This is something they can explore for their own lives and then question if it is a career they might be interested in.”
