security, border focus of McCain talk

On Aug. 25, a crowd of more than 200 people had a two-hour
opportunity to ask the senator about illegal immigration and the war in Iraq.
The conference was planned as “mediated interaction.” However,
former state representative Jeff Groscost said Sen. John McCain chose to skip
answering prewritten questions from the audience.
Changes
to benefit non-math students

A recent change to the ASU mathematics curriculum positively
influences students at Mesa Community College.
The MA general studies designation has been removed from MAT117 the course
code for college algebra, a long-standing requirement for general studies,
as well as the transfer equivalencies at ASU. MAT150 is college algebra at
Mesa Community College or the equivilent class for MAT117 at ASU.

As Mesa Community College rolls into a fresh semester, stale
classrooms remain key places for instruction. Some buildings are described
as snapshots straight from the 1960s. However, it won’t be that way
for much longer. The recent bond money MCC campuses have received will accommodate
ever growing needs.
