Aug. 25
A student made a delayed report of a theft from a secured locker in the basketball locker room by suspect(s) unknown. A literature text book and cash were taken.

A minor non-injury motor vehicle accident involving two students occurred in lot C, near the stadium, as both vehicles were backing from parking spaces. Information was exchanged between the drivers.

Aug. 26
A minor non-injury motor vehicle accident involving two students occurred in lot I, southwest of Childcare, as one vehicle backed into a another that was passing by. Information was exchanged between the drivers.

A student reported that her front bumper was ripped from her car some time that morning as the vehicle was parked in lot C. Investigation continues.

Aug. 28
A campus police officer contacted a subject near Jazzland who had been observed sleeping on campus. During the contact the subject displayed symptoms of a physical illness. Mesa Fire Department paramedics responded and determined that his blood sugar was dangerously low. He was transported to the hospital by a family member.

Aug. 29
A visitor left her purse on a bench near the admissions office and upon returning a few minutes later discovered it missing. No suspect(s) are known.

Aug. 30
A campus police officer served an order of protection on a student at the request of the plaintiff in the case.

A custodian was transported by ambulance to Desert Banner hospital after contacting College safety and complaining of chest pains and difficulty breathing.

Spotlight

Fairway Frenzy

Mesa Community College will once again be hosting “The Second Annual MCC United Way Golf Frenzy.”
Last year’s event was outstanding and provided a wonderful opportunity for our college community to join forces with our external community to help raise funds for a worthy cause.
MCC raised more than $5,000 from this outstanding event to donate to United Way. This year the event will take place on Sept. 23 at Trilogy Golf Course located at Power Ranch at 4415 East Village Parkway, in Gilbert.
The event starts at 8 a.m. There will be a silent auction, door prizes, on-course awards, and a raffle. For more information about this event, contact Janet Felton at (480) 461-7500.

ASU Adviser Visit
ASU Social Work Advisor will visit at the Transfer Services on Sept. 13 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. ASU will also return on Sept. 26 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the same purpose as well.
They will be offering 30-minute sessions by appointment only. Drop by Bldg 38 or call (480) 461-7452 for more information on these events.

Latino Festival
On Sept. 19 near the clock tower in the open grass, MCC honors Hispanic Heritage Month from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be music playing, food to eat, games to take part in, and an art expo.

Global Perspective
In the Navajo Room on Sept. 20 at 12 to 1:10 p.m. Dr. John Craft from Arizona State University will be there to do a presentation on Mass Communications and the Global Perspective of the globe.

Immigration Workshop
Within the Kirk Student Center in the Kiva Room on Sept. 22 around noon there will be a free lunch and a discussion at an Immigration Workshop.

Community Project
To commemorate Hispanic Heritage Month, Multicultural Services is welcoming all interested individuals to help paint a mural on the MCC campus. Sept. 24 is the tentative date.
There will snacks, refreshments, supplies will available on day of the event.

Spanish-Language Film
On Sept. 28 a Culture and Gender in Spanish-Language Film by Sin Dejar Huella will be shown around noon. There will be free lunch and after the movie there will be time for discussion about the film. Aggregation
At the Arts, Media and Engineering/Institute for Studies in the Arts Computing Commons Gallery on the ASU campus will be presenting art work by Artist/animator Andy Lomas.
He is head of Character Effects at Dream Works Animation. The gallery will open from Sept. 8 to Oct. 21.
Lomas’ elegant images and animations emerge from intricate forms of plant and coral like structures created by digital simulation of flow and disposition.
