Police tackle fake IDs

A crackdown on underage drinking and fake IDs may have a sobering effect on the social life of many college students, according to the Tempe Police Department.

Napolitano seeks to improve state education, cost of living

During an East Valley Policy Forum held at Mesa Community College on Sept. 12, Gov. Janet Napolitano said education is the greatest challenge the people of Arizona face.
“We set expectations too low when all we talk about is reducing the drop out rate,” Napolitano said.

 


Out-of-state students get tuition break

Since Mesa Community College decided to participate in the Western Undergraduate Exchange Program in the 2000-01 year, out-of-state students have enjoyed significantly lower tuition rates.

 


New student system to allow easier access

Maricopa Community College District has been working for the last 10 years on a new Student Information System (SIS). The Student Information System is a computer program used for the keeping of student records, allowing a student’s record to be accessed from any computer terminal linked to the record database.

 


Medical groups aid needy patients

Because there is so much competition in the drug industry today, it is logical that the cost of medication would go down. However, the prices of medications have doubled in the past seven years. Programs in Arizona are readily available to help those who are affected by these rising prices.
