Sept. 28
A student reported that her vehicle sustained body damage from an apparent
hit and run driver while the car was parked in lot C.
Sept. 29
An instructor reported that approximately 11 new books, still in shipping
boxes, were stolen from his office in the TC building. The books were all
related to auto mechanics or auto electric related.
Oct. 1
A campus police officer responded to the north side of the library on a report
of a male assaulting a female. An investigation revealed that the couple are
boyfriend-girlfriend and had been involved in an argument. Both parties denied
that an assault had taken place and refused to cooperate with the officer.
The non-students were told to leave campus and were warned not to return.
Oct. 3
The IT staff reported that an interior door was damaged, possibly by someone
prying on the door in an attempt to gain entry. The damage may have occurred
over the weekend.
Oct. 4
A College Safety officer responded to lot A, on a report of two students arguing.
An investigation revealed that the confrontation was over a parking space.
The incident was resolved at the scene.
Oct. 5
A student reported that he left his backpack unattended in the Testing Center
earlier that afternoon and person(s) unknown removed the key ring that held
his car key.
Oct. 7
An employee reported that person(s) unknown stole a thumb drive from her desk
in an EF building office.
A student made a report to a campus police officer that
she was possibly molested by another student in the Kirk Center men’s
restroom the previous day.
Oct. 9
A student reported that he left his wallet unattended on a table on the second
floor of the library for a short time and when he returned the wallet had
been taken by person(s) unknown.
Spotlight
Television and society
Phi Theta Kappa will be holding a forum titled, “Stay
Tuned-TV’s Unforgettable Moments.” This event will take a look
at popular culture through the entertainment industry and the media in regards
to how it has affected society. Discussion topics will range from events
in history to television shows. Some of these will include the devastation
of Sept. 11, the O.J. Simpson trial, and JFK. The discussion will mostly
cover the past 50 years of television in the United States, however, some
will touch on events that have affected the world. This event will take
place on Oct. 25 from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m., in the community room of the library

On-Campus Events
Lunch with the president
Larry Christiansen will be holding the fall lunch conversation on Nov. 1
from noon to 1 p.m. in the Kiva room located in the Kirk Center. Topics
that will be discussed include the construction costs and planning options
in regards to whether or not plans have changed. Anyone attending must RSVP
to Donella Eberle at deberle@mail.mc.maricopa.edu no later than Oct. 26.
Students and faculty are welcomed and encouraged to attend.
Songwriters night
The next Songwriters Night will be on Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. at Into the Bean
Coffee House. All students are encouraged to come and showcase his or her
own talents. The coffee house is located across the street from MCC at 1710
W. Southern Ave. Participants must sign up at 6:30 p.m. in order to participate
for that night’s event.
Diversity retreat
The Leadership Today Diversity Retreat will be taking place Oct. 28-30 at
Whispering Pines Camp in Prescott, Ariz. The fee to participate is $5. All
students wanting to improve upon his or her leadership skills should plan

Table visits
Arizona State University will be on campus for a table visit in regards
to admissions. The representative will be here from 9 to 11 a.m. on Oct.
26 and again on Nov. 9 in the Kirk Center. For more information, call (480)

Colorado State University will be on campus for a table
visit on Oct. 27 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the Student Services patio.

Science Day
The Life Science Department is sponsoring a Science Day titled, “Science
Outreach Day.” This event will take place on Nov. 8 from 8 a.m. to
1 p.m. at the Southern and Dobson location. Fourth through sixth grades
will be on campus and will be educated on topics related to science. For

Giving blood
There will be a blood drive on Nov. 1 at the Southern and Dobson location
in the middle of the campus in front of the Kirk Center. All students, staff,
and faculty are encouraged to give blood if possible.
Clubs Carnival
There will be a Clubs Carnival at the Red Mountain campus on Nov. 14 from
11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and again from 4 to 6 p.m. Various clubs will be featured
on campus.
The Clubs Carnival will also take place on Nov. 16 at
the Southern and Dobson location from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and again from 5
to 7 p.m. All students are encouraged to come to learn and find out how
he or she can get involved with campus clubs and other organizations.
