Oct. 26
A student contacted College Safety to report that she was being disturbed by a subject outside the Jazzland Cafe. A campus police officer determined that the subject was an intoxicated non-student.
He had committed a minor assault upon the female student, but she declined to prosecute. The subject was escorted off the campus with instructions to not return.

Oct. 27
A student reported that after he left his wallet unattended near a computer on the first floor of the library, he discovered that person(s) unknown had taken a small amount of cash from it.

A student reported the theft of his mountain bike from the east side of the EF building. No suspect(s) are known.

Oct. 28
Two students were involved in a minor non-injury motor vehicle accident in lot I, southwest of Childcare. Relevant information was exchanged between the drivers.

A student reported that her vehicle was struck and damaged by another vehicle while parked in lot F, south of the AC building.
A fellow student left a note on her windshield stating that he had witnessed the accident, but did not provide contact information for follow-up on the case.

Oct. 31
A student reported that she had left her cell phone on a bench near the AD building and it was taken, possibly by another student.

A student reported the theft of his mountain bike from the northwest side of the SC building. No suspect(s) are known.

Nov. 1
A student reported that cash was taken from her purse as it was left unsecured in the dressing room of the Theatre Outback. Investigation continues.

There were two requests for medical assistance between October 26 and November 2, one involving and one involving a visitor. None of the patients required further medical attention.

Spotlight

UA Opens Doors To MCC

Students interested in attending the University of Arizona will have a chance to visit the campus Nov. 18. UA will be hosting an event titled “UA Up Close” from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. The purpose of the event is to allow students who are interested in attending the college an opportunity to receive transfer information. During the all-day event, MCC students will be able to meet and talk with faculty members of the University. Students will also be able to focus their studies more. Speaking with the faculty of UA will give students an idea of what their prospective schedules will be. They will be able to discuss required classes and tranferable credits with the faculty. Students will also be able to see the campus. Faculty memebrs from several departments will be on hand. The entire event is free but students must register by Wednesday, Nov 16. Transportation will be provided by MCC as will lunch. Students will have to meet at MCC by 6 a.m. to be able to reach the UA campus by 8 a.m. More information is available through the Multicultural Services. On-Campus Events


Smoking Lecture

The MCC Counseling Department will kickoff The Great American Smoke Out with a lecture Nov. 16. Meredith Smith will be speaking in the Kiva Room at noon. The 50 minute presentation will be aimed at helping students quit smoking.

Book Fair Volunteers
The Service Learning Center is looking for students to help with a book fair. Volunteers are needed for the Annual Scholastic Book Fair held from Nov. 14 to Nov. 18.
The fair is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Hours are flexible and no experience is required. For more information, contact Ivania Hernandez (480)461-7945.

MCC Fashion Show
The MCC Fashion Club will be hosting a fahsion show at noon on Nov. 30.
The show will feature collections of wearable art produced by MCC and McClintock High School Students.
Students from the MCC theater department will be modeling the clothes. The MCC dance team will also be performing during the fashion show.

Antique Walk
The MCC Women’s Leadership Group will be exploring downtown antique stores and art Nov. 19. The group will meet at Coffee Talk on Robson at 10:30 a.m. The group will visit several stores within walking distance and end at the Mesa Arts Center for the student art sale at noon.
