Heritage promotes cultural diversity

Mesa Community College’s Celebration of Cultural Diversity featured guest speakers, food, and a serenity auction whose proceeds benefited the Inter-Tribal Student Organization scholarship fund.
Nate Yazzie attended the event to help field questions regarding the serenity auction.
“There are over 60 items donated for the auction. The items vary from pieces made from Indian market vendors, MCC students, and photographers,” Yazzie said.

Event encourages smokers to kick the habit

The Great American Smoke Out took place on MCC’s main campus Nov. 16, which is designated as the national quit smoking day.
The event was funded by the State Counseling Department, and has been held for more than 15 years. Five of those years have been here on campus.

Beneath the elbow-length, black polo shirt, Brad Hamilton, assistant manager of Sprint in Paradise Valley, is hiding something, several “something’s” in fact.
Hamilton, like many others, keeps his six colorful tattoos on his back and arms undercover during work hours.
