MTV killed the music video star
Is it really necessary for MTV to have an award show for music videos when they don’t even play them that often?
Sure they have TRL but the videos are only played for 20 seconds before they go back to the VJ and crowd.
Furthermore, TRL is a three ring circus with the VJ and guest-stars “performing” for their audience.
Today, the basic MTV line-up consists of reality shows. The only time they even play music videos is during TRL, for again, not even a fourth of the show, and during the early morning hours when everyone is sleeping.
So when can you see the music videos?
Has anyone even seen the nominated videos fully played out?
I haven’t and I’m known to have my daily MTV fix
I think the VMA’s are just another excuse for Hollywood to party until the early morning hours without us “common-folk” giving them hell about it.
If they really need an excuse to party, they should party when it’s someone’s birthday or wedding. No one will complain then.
Nowadays the A-Listers even date the B-Listers so they could easily mingle together during the awards and of course, the after party.
Paris Hilton could find her new man there.
As for MTV, I have the perfect idea for an award show to replace the VMA’s. The Reality Show Awards!
Congratulations Coral! You’re considered the biggest “bi-otch” from Road Rules/Real World Challenge.
And Steven, you’re the hottest guy from the California shores. Real World, you still are by far the best reality show. You rock! It’s that simple.
MTV, I might even suggest a name change. RTV, Reality Television. After all, that’s all you play on your channel anymore.
I think we all kissed the so-called music videos goodbye a long time ago thanks to reality shows.
