Arizona food banks in need of donations as holidays near
The holidays are just around the corner and Arizona food banks are looking to stock up for this season. To help reduce shortages for this season, Arizona food banks are looking to fill their needs early.
Food banks are found in communities throughout Arizona and can provide a variety of food assistance to help feed families and individuals who cannot afford to celebrate the holidays with a traditional Thanksgiving or Christmas meal.
According to the Association of Arizona Food Banks, about 843,380 Arizonans live in poverty. Of this population, 41 percent are children and elderly people.
Aside from churches and shelters, local groceries, restaurants and other companies offer goodwill services by providing sponsorship to help hold events where families and individuals can come in for a hot meal.
Basha’s grocery stores is working with United Food Bank to help the hungry in Arizona through Bashas’ Thanks A Million For Friends and Neighbors Campaign. Shoppers can go to Bashas’ store and ask the cashier to link their “Thank You” card with United Food Bank.
Over the next year, Bashas’ will donate one percent of the total sales linked to our number, up to a $2,500 donation.
