Animals find refuge in local humane shelter
Volunteering is very enriching for everyone involved. One particular organization that deserves some extra attention and needs volunteers is Friends for Life.
Friends for Life Animal Sanctuary is non-profit, volunteer-run, no-kill organization that focuses on controlling animal population through programs focusing on spaying and neutering, adoptions, and education.
Friends for Life does not euthanize animals to control the overpopulation or for means of convenience.
The organization has been open since 1993 and has been successful in finding unwanted animals loving homes and saving the lives of many desolate, stray dogs and cats. The organization is always looking for volunteers in numerous areas including caring for the animals (such as playing with and walking the animals, feeding, etc.), cleaning the facilities, adoption services, and many more.
If one does not have the time to volunteer, the organization is always accepting donations which will go towards veterinarian visits, surgeries, medications, as well as housing.
Adopting a dog or cat is another great way to help. All animals up for adoption have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.
There is an orientation for potential volunteers on the second Thursday of every month, and it requires at least two hours of volunteering per month.
The Friends for Life facility is located on 143 W. Vaughn Ave. in downtown Gilbert, on Gilbert Road between Guadalupe and Elliot roads.
