Motivation hard to come by

“Just five more minutes” or “I’ll start after this show” are phrases numerous college students have been muttering all semester long.

Despite numerous errands that need to be run or homework assignments in need of completion, students often suffer from lack of motivation.

At times, the couch is just too comfortable to move from and as much as students know they need to be productive, producing the motivation to do so can be a tall order.

However, finding motivation, though it may not seem so, is not impossible.

The key to finding the energy to perform the necessary tasks a student comes across during the daily grind is to have a clear mind. It is difficult to accomplish anything when the mind is cluttered.

A good place to start is in the room. Waking up to a clean room is important to starting the day off with a clear mind.

Though it may not seem overly important, a cluttered room will cause frustration, and those negative thoughts will crowd the mind before the day has even begun.

Removing those negative thoughts can prove to be difficult and burn up energy better used towards performing necessary tasks.

Students also tend to underestimate the importance of a nutritious breakfast. It may be shrugged off as a cliché, but having a good breakfast is vital to providing students with the energy necessary to have a productive day in the class room and beyond.

Perhaps most important to having a clear and motivated mind is getting the proper amount of sleep.
College students are encouraged to get no less than six or seven hours of sleep a night and eight is ideal. Waking up after a good nights rest will help a student sustain motivation throughout the day.

It can be hard for students to find the energy to complete the numerous tasks that seem to haunt them all semester, but by clearing their mind there is no limit to what one can accomplish.
