T-birds players off to new digs
While it was a tough year on the gridiorn for the Mesa Thunderbird football team, several of the teams players will be off to new colleges next season to continue their football careers.
While some are sure to sign within the next couple of months, others from the T-bird squad have already given their commitment to other schools.
Leon Freeman, who helped anchor a staunch Mesa defense at linebacker, is off to finish his football career at Baylor University, the same Alma Mater as former Mesa standout Rashad Armstrong, who now helps coach running backs at MCC.
The Anderson twins, Vincent and Victor, will contine playing together with plans to attend Southeast Missouri next season. The twins, who were both key members of the T-birds offensive attack, played their high school foothall in St. Louis.
Quaterback Luke Taylor who played high school at Agua Fria in Avondale is headed to play at Southern Virginia University.
Also going forward will be Tremain Johnson, who is headed to the midwest to play for Upper Iowa University.
Andrew Gamboa, who played his high school football right here in Mesa at Skyline High School, will be heading to Utah to play at Dixie College.
These signings were preceeded by Thunderbird football player Will Tukuafu who decided to join Mike Stoops in Tucson to play for the Arizona Wildcats, a squad that figures to a contender in the Pac-10 next season.
