Honors galore for Mesa athletes

Before the winter break, several Mesa athletes recieved recognition for their performances during the fall season.

Punter Ben Nowicki led the nation in punting and as a result was named a first team All-American by the NJCAA.

Recieving the same honor on the first team was wide receiver and return specialist Rudy Fleming.

Other Thunderbirds to gain postseason recognition were linebacker Leon Freeman, defensive back Billy Ray Weathorford, and defensive lineman Cameron Copeland.

Both of Mesa’s soccer teams performed very well this season and players from both squads earned honors.

Nick Auditore was the sixth leading scorer in the NJCAA last season giving him first-team All-American honors.

On the women’s side, Krista Mirabelli was a second team NJCAA All-American, while Andrea Evans, Celene Molera, Cammi Keller, and Rochelle Bush earned All-Region honors for the T-birds who finished sixth in the nation.
