Cheap dates that don’t skimp on fun

Everyone wants to have a good time right? But no one wants to spend a small fortune doing it. Here are some fun and inexpensive date ideas.

In a movie mood? Pick from 8 “just out of the big theater” movies at Tempe Cinemas on Elliot for $2.00 per person. On Tuesdays admission is just $1.50!

For a bigger impact, try The Imax theater. It costs a little more, but is worth the intense 3D experience.

Tickets range from $9.75 per person to $14.50 depending on the movie.

For a glimpse at the stars, Gilbert’s Rotary Centennial Observatory boasts a state-of-the-art 16 inch diameter telescope for star gazing, and it’s free!

Other date ideas sure to please the eye would be a visit to The Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art, The Mesa Arts Center or The Phoenix Art Museum.

There is plenty of artwork to view ranging from the impressionism time period to the modern time period. And there’s always something to discuss among one another. Admission on Thursdays is free.

Make a date to hang out with the animals. With 125 acres stocked with all kinds of creatures, a stroll through the Phoenix zoo is only $14.

Then bounce over to Papago Park to the Hole in the Rock. A short climb will guarantee an amazing view.

For a more adventurous outing, Phoenix Rock Gym in Tempe offers a day pass for $10 plus $5 for rental of shoes, harness and carabiner.

Or ride into the sunset at OK Corral in Apache Junction. A bit more costly, at $30 per horse, for 1 hour or $50 for 2 hours.

If a little friendly competition sounds like fun, visit Cracker Jax in Scottsdale.

For under $6 each, take a cruise on the go carts and bumper boats, or try a round of mini golf. Cracker Jax also has batting cages for dirt cheap; $1.25 for 20 pitches!

If food is the key to one’s heart then there are a lot of great places to eat for under $20.

Aloha Kitchen in Mesa offers a taste of the South Pacific with festive Hawaiian decor.

The Blue Nile Ethiopian Cafe in Tempe allows everyone to get down low in their “inside room” complete with woven tables and carved stools. No utensils create a fun new way to eat by scooping up food with flat bread!

Long Wongs in Phoenix prides itself on their awesome wings and has live entertainment often.
Or choose from various ingredients to create a fantastic new dish and watch them cook it at YC’s Mongolian BBQ.

Finally, if it’s time to relax and unwind, head over to The Arizona Wine Co. in Scottsdale where $10 will get one a seat at their laid back wine bar and as many samples as one would like.

Or take in a coffee shop to talk about potential possibilities for date number two!
