Off to Italy in November
MCC teacher chosen to display artwork

It is not that often that the everyday American gets to travel to a foreign country.
Most people dream of going on such a journey. But MCC art instructor, Paul Andrus, has been privileged with the amazing opportunity to be a part of an art exhibit in Italy, which he has most certainly earned.
He will embark on his trip the last week in November for two weeks.
How did he get chosen? “My work is displayed in nine galleries in Europe. They saw my work and my website and contacted me,” says Andrus.
“I’m really interested in meeting a lot of superstars, as far as the art world is concerned. I’m going to be able to meet people in person that I have read about,” said Andrus on what he is looking forward to most.
Andrus has studied art in both the United States and Europe.
“In high school, my parents sent me to a special school for art. After that, I joined the navy and I was a navy illustrator.”
Andrus has a BA in fine arts and attended the University of Paris, The École des Beaux-Arts, and the Royal Academy.
He spent three years for a five year degree in Europe and received a Masters in painting and drawing from Montclair State University in New Jersey.
Andrus also received a Masters from Northwestern University in Illinois in painting and printmaking.
He has been teaching at Mesa Community College and University of Advancing technologies since 1995.
He has some very touching words to include, “My experience of teaching at MCC has been and still is a learning experience for me. I’ve learned a lot from my students that have helped me develop my art skills today.”
Andrus has an extremely captivating history. It’s no wonder why he was chosen to attend such a prestigious gathering.
