Many
of MCC’s faculty and staff visit the Center for Teaching
and Learning in hopes of learning enough about webpage design
and development to create their own websites. In response to this
search for knowledge, Donna Gaudet and Tammi Saffold in the CTL
decided to pilot a technical learning experience which would provide
participants with both a deeper understanding of webpage design
and also an opportunity to develop a website to meet an academic
or instructional need.
The
workshop they developed was entitled Dreamweaver TUG (Technology
Users Group) and was designed to provide an in-depth, hands-on,
project-oriented experience for its participants. The TUG group
met over a period of seven Friday afternoons. Each meeting session
was broken into intensive instruction time and plenty of lab/project
work time. At the conclusion of the workshop, participants uploaded
their projects to the web and shared their results with other
TUG members. Comments from participants indicated that the experience
was “…personal, engaging, challenging and well worth
[the] time and effort.”
The
TUG program was a certainly a success story for the CTL and therefore
will be offered again. Look for announcements concerning TUG learning
opportunities during the spring semester.
Congratulations
to the Fall 2003 Dreamweaver TUG participants!
