Intercampus IP Video Conferencing Now Available
Have you ever needed to have a meeting with personnel
from both the Red Mountain and Southern & Dobson campuses but
you didn’t because it would be too inconvenient? The intercampus
IP video conferencing system might be the solution to your problem.
What is IP video conferencing?
IP video conferencing is a technology that enables
voice and video communication between the Red Mountain and Southern
& Dobson campuses using Internet networking technology.
The video conferencing equipment involves using an
isolated wireless network which separates the network traffic from
your conference from our regular data network. This ensures that
the speed and efficiency of our network is not degraded while you
are having your videoconference.
Why would I use IP video conferencing?
IP video conferencing allows meetings with participants
from both the Red Mountain and Southern & Dobson campuses without
requiring that everyone be in the same physical location. This
means reduced travel, better use of participant’s time, and, hopefully,
better attendance at the meetings.
Who can schedule a video conference?
Any board approved employee at Mesa can schedule a
video conference.
For what times can I schedule a video conference?
Video conferences can be scheduled to take place Monday
– Thursday, 6 am – 10 pm, and Friday, 6 am – 5 pm.
Where can I have a video conference?
At the Red Mountain campus, the equipment is installed
in room M224 on the second floor of the Mesquite building. At the
Southern & Dobson campus, either the video conferencing rooms
in the Media Services department in the AS building or the CTL conference
room can be used for video conferencing.
How do I schedule a video conference?
If you would like to schedule a videoconference, contact
Media Services at Southern & Dobson (480-461-7687). You can
speak with Jan Coleman or Gary Gonzales from 6 am – 4 pm and Ron
Rangel from 4 pm – 10 pm. Please call at least 24 hours in advance
of your conference. Please also have the following information
ready:
1. The date and time of your conference
2. The number of people who will be attending at
both campuses
3. The name of one contact person at each campus |
