Questions about the new server?    September 2001 Edition

We are happy to report that IT has acquired a new, more powerful server that will replace the old MCWEB server.

The new server will give MCC greater capacity, faster response time, more reliability, and the ability to support varied operating systems and platforms more effectively.

While this new server will relieve many of the problems we have had due to limited server space it will mean that any MCC employees who have documents in user files on MCWEB will need to transfer those files to the new server.

While this may seem like a daunting task, we will be providing step-by- step instructions to facilitate the transfer. In addition, those who work the Helpdesk will be trained in making the transfer; and ITS will be available to provide backup assistance. Users and departments may also schedule appointments to facilitate file transfer on a one-to-one appointment basis by contacting the ITS department directly at: 480-461-7466.

The projected shut-down date of the old MCWEB server is March 11, 2002 – the beginning of Spring Break 2002.

This will allow users ample time to make the file transfers and to become familiar with the new server environment and file structure.

The MCWEB server will be maintained until Fall 2002 as a back-up file server in case of catastrophic data loss, however, there will be no web access to this old server after Spring 2002.

The following link will provide step by step instructions on moving your files to the new directory:
