Be My Guest!   February 2002 Edition

Many faculty WebCT users often request student access to their own courses so that they can verify exactly what a student sees in their course.  Until recently, student access had to be given manually by the WebCT administrators.

Now you can request your own student accounts without having to talk to a human being.  This is done using the MyMCC portal.  Here is how:

Log into the MyMCC portal as normal, and then click on the MyTools tab.  You will see a list of links near the top of the page just under the row of tabs.  Click on the Application Guest Utility Link.

You will see a list of up to 10 possible guest account user names.  You can associate these with any or all of your WebCT courses.  Simply click on one of the guest account links, on the next screen, select which courses you want that account to have access to and click the Submit button.  On the final screen, pick a new password for that guest account, and hit the Submit button.  Within 24 hours, your new guest account will be active and linked to your course.

To get to your course using the guest account, you can log into the MyMCC portal with Your Own Username and Password.  When you click on the link on the portal that takes you to your WebCT course, it will ask you again for a username and password.  This time enter the new guest account information, and you will be logged in as a student.

If you have any questions regarding this feature, contact the MCC Technology Helpdesk.
