This past semester, and after a two-year hiatus at Phoenix College, Alicia Barnett rejoined the Distance Learning Office as the distance learning program advisor.  In this capacity she assisted with the New Student Orientations and is currently providing e-mail, phone and walk-in support for distance learning students.  In addition, she developed and began presenting a "Student Survival Workshop" at different times and days during the first three weeks of the semester.  The workshop is designed to help novice computer users to learn some basics skills necessary to navigate their on-line courses.  Attendance was pretty slim--in future semesters the DL office will offer these workshops on the same days as the new student orientations.  

Alicia is currently working on student workshops to help students use various WebCT tools—a notice will go out to all DL faculty when they are ready to be piloted.  Please visit the DL website for a schedule of Alicia’s student, walk-in support office hours. In addition, be sure to check the site periodically for a schedule of workshops and orientations.
