Geography Instructor, Steve Bass, hosted a field trip to the North Gateway Recycling Facility run by the City of Phoenix. The Material Recovery Facility (otherwise known as MRF...think "smurf") is located at 30205 North Black Canyon Highway and tours are offered daily. Check their website for hours and directions. It was quite the exciting tour.
Fun Fact: City of Phoenix' North Gateway MRF recycles 300-330 tons a day.
By Comparison, MCC recycles about 2 tons per week.
