About Mesa Community College
Mesa Community College is located in Mesa, Arizona, and is the largest of the Maricopa Community Colleges.
In Fall 2004, MCC had a student population
of almost 28,000 students enrolled at two comprehensive
campuses – the Southern and Dobson campus and the
Red Mountain Campus -- and an Extended
Campus that provides classes in convenient community-based
locations. MCC is a leading provider of higher education
in the rapidly growing Phoenix metropolitan area, meeting
the educational and learning needs of over 800,000 East
Valley residents. The college's operating budget for fiscal
year 2004-2005 is $70 million. Revenues flow through the
Maricopa Community College District to the 10 member colleges.
The college offers over 100 academic, career
and certificate, and personal interest programs for students
pursuing a wide range of educational goals. Approximately
62% of MCC’s students plan to transfer to another
college or university, 27% are preparing to enter the workforce
or improve job skills, and 11% take classes for personal
interest. Credit courses are taught by over 300 full-time
residential faculty and over 800 adjunct faculty.
A comprehensive Community Education program provides hundreds of non-credit classes to meet the lifelong learning needs of the community. In addition, the Business and Industry Institute provides customized corporate training for the local business community.
The college is accredited by the Higher
Learning Commission (HLC) and is a member of the North Central
Association.
