Subject: Self Study FAQ
MCC has been engaged in a college-wide self study for more than two years. Below are responses to two frequently asked questions about the self-study process. More FAQs will be sent in the near future.
- What exactly is a self study?
- Colleges conduct a self study in order to receive continued
accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). The self
study is a two-year process and revolves around three extremely
important questions: Are we doing what we say we are doing? What are
our strengths and our challenges? How can we position ourselves for
the future?
- What is the purpose of the self study?
- The self study is a voluntary peer review process that provides
colleges with the impetus to critically evaluate their purposes and
whether those purposes are being achieved. The accreditation process
culminates with the publication of a self-study report and a campus
visit by a team of consultant-evaluators.
The self-study report is available online at http://www.mc.maricopa.edu/selfstudy/selfstudy_report.html.
The campus visit is scheduled for March 7-9, 2005. |
