Program to
Evaluate and Advance Quality (PEAQ)
According to the Handbook of Accreditation,
3rd Edition (2003), the Higher Learning Commission (HLC)
"provides two programs for maintaining accredited status:
the Program to Evaluate and Advance Quality (PEAQ) and the
Academic Quality Improvement Program (AQUIP)."
Mesa Community College is conducting its
accreditation self study using the Program to Evaluate and
Advance Quality (PEAQ).
PEAQ's evaluation process involves several
steps. The institution conducts a self study and prepares
a self-study report addressing the Criteria for Accreditation
and other HLC requirements. Subsequently, the college hosts
an on-site visiting team comprised of peer consultant-evaluators
representing the HLC. After the visit, the team then prepares
a response with recommendations and comments related to
continued accreditation.
