Reinstatement
OUT-OF-STATUS
Failure to maintain status can happen either by dropping under 12
credit hours, working off campus illegally or not beginning classes
by the date indicated on the I-20. There is the option of reinstating
F-1 visa status in the United States. If you have been out-of-status
for longer than 5 months, you are ineligible for reinstatement.
MCC is required to report to United States Citizenship
and Immigration Services (USCIS) within 21 days when a student drops
below 12 credits. Make an appointment with an International Student
Advisor to determine eligibility for reinstatement. If you qualify,
complete the following process:
