Satisfactory Academic Progress
The Department of Veteran Affairs regulations require that all persons using
any type of veteran educational assistance program will make satisfactory academic
progress toward achievement of their educational objective (program of study).
A student who does not meet the minimum standards (see below) will be placed
on probation for a maximum of two consecutive semesters. At this point, if satisfactory
academic progress has not been demonstrated, the veteran's educational benefits
will be terminated. Benefits may be resumed when the student raises his/her cumulative
grade point average to the required minimum standards or demonstrates the ability
to meet these standards.
The ability to meet these standards will be determined by one of the following:
- Take six or more credits in one semester (without veterans educational
benefits) and complete all attempted credits with a minimum grade of "C
(2.0)" in each class.
OR
- An approval through the appeal process. A written appeal with appropriate
documentation must be submitted to the MCC Veterans Office.
