Mesa Community College is pleased to offer the Summer Youth College (SYC) to youth in the community. The enriching and innovative programs are designed and taught by MCC faculty. The Summer Youth programs provide an opportunity to introduce young people and their parents to MCC and the current and future educational opportunities that are available at the College.

Drop Off and Pick Up

Parents or guardians are expected to provide transportation to and from the campus. All children must be escorted to and from the classroom and signed in and out daily.

Students may not be left unattended by parents before class and should be picked up immediately at the end of the class. Children will be released ONLY to those persons listed on the emergency information form.

Any special concerns should be noted on the form, and brought to the attention of the Community Education staff and the Workshop/Camp faculty.

Please don't hesitate to call us at (480) 461-7493 if you have questions about drop off and pick up.

Campus Safety

We are always concerned for your child's safety. Parents are responsible for walking their child to and from their classroom.

Students are not to be dropped off in rooms before an instructor arrives. No child may be left unattended at any time on campus. If this occurs, the parent/guardian will be called to pick him/her up.

The Public Safety office is located in the S/W portion of the Southern & Dobson campus in building #14. The building faces the west and there is a blue canopy over our entrance. Public Safety service is available every day of the year. View their website here.

NOTE: There is remodeling of the exterior of several buildings at Southern & Dobson now underway. The construction areas are clearly marked for your safety.

Please don't hesitate to call us at (480) 461-7493 if you have questions about campus safety.

Books & Materials

The faculty supplies books and materials unless otherwise noted in the description.

Please don't hesitate to call us at (480) 461-7493 if you have questions about books and materials.

Food & Drinks

Most MCC classrooms do not allow students to bring food or drinks. Check with the faculty for your child's program.

Please don't hesitate to call us at (480) 461-7493 if you have questions about food and drink.

Code of Conduct

Appropriate behavioral guidelines are established with the goal of not only maintaining the physical and emotional well being of each student, but also of teaching self-discipline, judgment and manners.

If program faculty and/or staff determine that a child interferes with the learning of other students, cannot benefit from the program, or presents a danger to themselves or other children, parents will be requested to withdraw the child and forfeit any registration charges that have been paid.

A Student Contract/Code of Conduct form is included in the SYC packet for signatures to be returned to Community Ed.

Please don't hesitate to call us at (480) 461-7493 if you have questions about code of conduct.

Illness and Emergencies

Children who are ill should not come to class. Illnesses include a runny nose, cough, sore throat, unexplained rashes, swollen glands, head or stomachaches or a fever.

If a child becomes ill or injured, the parent or designated guardian will be notified promptly, and will be expected to pick up the child from the class immediately. Parents will be responsible for all costs incurred in such emergencies.

MCC staff will administer no medications to your child - no exceptions.

Please don't hesitate to call us at (480) 461-7493 if you have questions about illness and emergencies.
