Title Pages
If you have already started a document, follow the instructions at number one. If
you are starting a new document, start with instruction #6.
Typing a title page for a document that you have already started is simple with Word.
- Put your cursor at the very beginning of your document.
- Select Insert from the Menu bar.
- Select Break. A window will appear.
- Select Page Break, and click on "OK." Word will insert a page break at
the beginning of your document, forcing a new, blank page at the beginning.
- Press the up arrow on your keyboard several times until the cursor appears at the top of
this new page.
At the top of your document:
- Click on Double Space on the Tool bar or in the Format menu.
- Click on Center on the Tool bar.
- Press the Enter key on your keyboard 6 (double space) times to go one third of the way
down your page.
- At this position on your page, type in your Title. You can change fonts or size for your
title by using the Tool bar. Important: Do not change the font or character size until
after you have completed your spacing (adding the 20 lines between your title and name),
for different fonts and character size change the spacing of the lines.
- After your title, press the Enter key 10 (double space) times to drop two-thirds
of the way down the page.
- Type in your name, and press enter (double space).
- Type in the English title and section number, and press enter.
- Type in the Date, and press enter.
- Type in the name of your instructor.
You now have a title page on your document. It should look like this:
The following information should be grouped 2/3 down page and double
spaced:
Name
English 102, Section 3736
