MCC Mail and Class Bulletin board Setup Instructions

Students can complete this course using the MCC Web Mail and the web bulletin board.  However, some students find the Web Mail slow, and like to add the MCC mail account to their own mail software, or set up a web browser and mail software that they can use exclusively for the course.  These instructions show how to set up Netscape 4.5+, Outlook Express 5.0+ and Mozilla for MCC mail.

General Links:

Create an MCC Mail account

MyMCC-Student Portal  (Class rosters, e-mail addresses, links to bulletin boards, links to web pages)

Netscape Version:   Download from MCC (4.78)

Mozilla Version:  Download from Mozilla site

Microsoft Outlook Express:  All windows OS computers already have this software on their computers

Use MCC Web Mail:   NS Express

Netscape 4.7+:   Setup Instructions

These instructions are for the Netscape 4.5+ series (the latest is 4.8), not for the newer Netscape 6.0+.  It is not recommended that you use Netscape 6.0 for this course, as it has many bugs as of this writing, does not include several features of 4.5+ that are used in this course.  The 4.7+ software will not interfere with any other software on your computer and should not interfere with your current ISP e-mail.

Outlook Express:  Setup Instructions:

Comes with Microsoft's Internet Explorer.  Although not as easy to use, it can be set up to see MCC mail and the Collabra Bulletin board.  Setup is somewhat harder than Netscape 4.7+ or 7.0

Mozilla   Setup Instructions

This web browser and mail software is the successor to Netscape.
