About the Model United Nations at MCC:
The Model United Nations at MCC
is an academic, co-curricular program that prepares for, and attends the Model
United Nations Far West conference in San Francisco. The next conference
will be in April, 2004. At the MUNFW conference, MCC and the other
participating colleges will conduct a simulation of the United Nations,
including: preparation of position papers for the assigned country on several
different topics, use of parliamentary rules and procedures, and both prepared
and extemporaneous speeches. We
meet on Thursday evenings at 7:30 in the Papago room of the Kirk center to
prepare for conference.
MCC also hosts a high school conference. This year the conference will be held February
6 and 7 in the Kirk Center.
Students who wish to travel to the San Francisco conference must
participate in the secretariat for the high school conference.
A limited number of MCC students that participate and excel in
the preparation for the conference will be able to attend the 5 day conference
in San Francisco at no expense.
