What is an electronic portfolio?
It is a collection of structured web pages, based on templates, that you can
easily build and maintain without extensive web development experience.
What is the purpose
of a portfolio?
It is a method to document ongoing learning
and professional development.
What will I do in
this course? You will compile, reflect on,
and select prior learning experiences and artifacts. Then, you will design,
produce, and publish an online portfolio that documents prior learning (in
school or on the job). Finally, you will learn techniques for presenting the
electronic portfolio for evaluation. Your final project will be published
on the World Wide Web.
Who will see my electronic
portfolio? Your classmates,
your instructor, and whomever else you decide, including future employers,
future college representatives, friends, and family members.
This
course is an introduction to e-portfolios for anyone interested in
showcasing their accomplishments. Learn
about and apply the essential aspects of demonstrating growth over time,
documenting ongoing learning and professional development, assessment, and
achievements of standards or goals. Use the knowledge to prepare for future
educational and career advancement.

Students will be required to
perform the following:
- Create
and use an MCC mail account.
- Access and
use WebCT - Note: instructions will be provided.
- Read lecture notes from
your instructor for instructions on how to complete each assignment.
- Follow the Assignment
Checklist for each project to perform
hands-on applications.

Participate in online discussions and group projects.
- Complete
Online Quizzes
- Access and
use the e-portfolio software - Note: instructions will be provided
- Complete the final comprehensive
project (develop your own e-portfolio) based on what you have
learned this class.
Students will also have an opportunity to interact with
the instructor and
their classmates either by email, or by on line real-time chat sessions, bulletin board,
and/or online office hours.
