Businesses (small and large, profit and
not-for-profit) are discovering the benefits of having an online presence. This
course is an introduction to the world of e-Commerce for anyone interested in
starting an e-business or understanding the principles behind one. Learn
about and apply the essential aspects of conducting business online including
determining your business model, marketing strategies, customer service
techniques, legal issues, security, and payment methods. Discover what does and
doesn’t work. Using current sites, case studies, and various web development
technologies as a guide, design and create your own e-business or e-commerce
site! In the meantime, use the knowledge to prepare for the
CIW (E-Commerce
Designer) Exam.

this course CIS233DA (Internet Publishing) or permission of your instructor.
Students will be required to
perform the following:
- Purchase the textbook (instructor will provide the purchasing information to students via your MCC email and within the WebCT course).
- Create
and use an MCC mail account.
- Access and
use WebCT - Note: instructions will be provided.
- Read lecture notes from
your instructor for instructions on how to complete each assignment.
- Follow the Assignment
Checklist for each chapter to perform
hands-on applications.

Participate in online discussions and group projects.
- Complete
Online Quizzes and Exams.
- Complete the final comprehensive
project (develop your own e-Business or e-Commerce site) based on what you have
learned this class.
- Complete the CIW E-Commerce Design practicer test.
Students will also have an opportunity to interact with
the instructor and
their classmates either by email, or by on line real-time chat sessions, bulletin board,
and online office hours.
