Businesses (small and large, profit and not-for-profit) are discovering the benefits of having an online presence. This course is an introduction to the world of e-commerce for anyone interested in starting an e-business or understanding the principles behind one. Learn about and apply the essential aspects of conducting business online including determining your business model, marketing strategies, customer service techniques, legal issues, security, and payment methods. Discover what does and doesn’t work. Using current sites, case studies, and various web development technologies as a guide, design and create your own e-business or e-commerce site!

This course will also prepare students to:

  • Receive an Academic Certificate of Completion in Web Designer Associate at MCC
  • Receive an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Web Technology at MCC
  • Receive training in the latest E-Commerce Strategies and Practices
  • Obtain industry certification in Certified Internet Webmaster and CIW Professional E-Commerce Design
  • Apply for industry jobs in Webmaster - Design and Development with an emphasis on E-Commerce

Introduction to Electronic Commerce on the Internet. Designing an electronic storefront including web page content and development, e-­commerce site marketing, advertisement, legal and security considerations, credit card and other debit transaction covered. Also includes current issues in e-commerce
.

 

   Prerequisites: CIS233DA or

        instructor permission

·   Define e-Commerce.

·   Identify common uses of e-Commerce.

·   Describe common components in e-Commerce web sites.

·   Identify and use development tools appropriate for developing an
e-Commerce site.

·   Summarize issues involved in designing a storefront.

·   Summarize customer features related to storefronts.

·   Design a storefront.

·   Critique options for site visibility.

·   Summarize the payment options available in e-Commerce.

·   Identify current issues in e-Commerce.
