Introductory & Intermediate Algebra
for College Students
(An Early Functions Approach)

By: Blitzer

We are using a combination Beginning/Intermediate Algebra textbook. Chapters 1 – 7 are taught in MAT 092 (Beginning Algebra); if you are unfamiliar with any of that material you will need to transfer down into MAT 092 (Beginning Algebra) during the first week of class. We will be starting in Chapter 9, and it is expected that you are already know the material from Ch 1 – 7 (we will skip Ch 8).

*you do not need to buy the book, a PDF version of the book is available in MyMathLab

Other Materials:

  • My Math Lab (Course Compass)account – it can be purchased at the bookstore or online at http://www.coursecompass.com/html/student_register.html

  • Access to a computer with internet for at least 2 hours per day (the campus library has computers that will work with Course Compass – MyMathLab) Friday's lessons will be completely ONLINE! Check the online calendar for links to the WEEKLY calendars.
  • Pencil - ALL paper homework and tests must be done in pencil
  • 3 ring binder for class notes, homework, storing quizzes and tests (organization)
  • Lined paper and graph paper (1/4” squares) for homework
Graphing calculators are highly recommended for all students. Since I will be giving some instruction from the TI-84 calculator, I recommend purchasing that calculator. You may NOT use the TI-89 or TI-92 on tests or quizzes.

**You MUST at least own a scientific calculator - it must have , (radicals, exponents) and logarithms.

PLEASE bring your calculator to class every day!

**You may NOT use your cell phone or PDA as a calculator !!!
All cell phones must be OFF and put AWAY!!
