A little bit about me...
Residential Faculty
I became residential sociology faculty at Mesa Community College in August 2001. Prior to that I was an adjunct instructor at Rio Salado Community College, Phoenix College, and Mesa Community College. I have also taught sections of social statistics at Arizona State University.
My most recent professional experience before Mesa Community College was working in the Equal Opportunity Department with the City of Phoenix. In this position, I was the Mayor and City Council's liaison to the Mayor's Commission on Disability Issues and the Human Relations Commission.

Education
I received my Master of Arts in Sociology from Arizona State University in 1994. My master thesis was titled "The Social Implications of Advancing Technology: The View from the Inside." I researched the attitudes and behaviors of engineers and they specifically viewed the positive and negative consequences of their research, design, and development. My interest in this subject stems from my experience as a short-lived professional engineer and Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
Academic Interests
My main academic interests today focus on all areas surrounding diversity. Issues in race relations, gender studies, class, religion, disabilities are key to better understanding our most divisive social issues in today's society. Bilingual education, affirmative action, and immigration policy are at the forefront of current events and my passion focuses on better understanding the sociological implications of these issues.
