Character Development
Many times in descriptive
writing, you may want to analyze and describe an individual character (perhaps
someone you know) or a type of character that you have come across. When describing
a character, you will want to choose large and small details that will allow
the reader to see and understand the character you are describing.
When describing an
individual character, you will want to use specific and concrete details about
the individual. Considering the physical appearance, actions, interest, habits,
actions, favorite topics of conversation and manner of speaking, hobbies, and
relationships with others will help to show the reader the character's personality.
When describing a type of character, such as writers, students, teachers, etc.,
you will want to focus on important characteristics and develop them coherently
with specific details.
When choosing a subject
for your description, you need to choose an individual or a type about whom
you know well enough to describe in an accurate and complete way. You will want
to choose someone you have known well or a type of character with an outstanding
trait or ability.
