Friendship/Trust Journal Entry

No matter how full our lives are with family and work, friends play a very important role in our lives. Trust goes right along with friendship, because if you can not totally trust a friend, that person probably is not a true, everlasting friend. For this journal entry, you need to write about an experience on friendship and trust that you have had sometime in the past. It can be an experience that has recently happened; it does not have to be one that happened a long time ago.

The following is a sample journal entry on friendship and trust:

A True Friend No More

I have had many friends throughout my lifetime, and while some of them were just casual friends, I have had others whom I considered to be my true friends. Sadly to say, this has not always turned out to be true. I remember one experience in particular that proved to me that my good friend was not truly as good a friend as I thought she was.

I had a friend many years ago with whom I shared everything, my hopes, my dreams, and my fears. I felt total loyalty to her, and I thought she felt the same towards me. However, I was to find out painfully that this was not true. We worked at the same place of business and therefore, had many mutual acquaintances. One summer, my friend and I planned to go on a trip together. We had been planning this trip for a long time and were very excited about going. It was just a simple camping trip up in the mountains for four or five days, but since we both loved to camp out in the open, it was a trip that I thought we both waited for with great joy. However, I seemed to be wrong. Something else came up that changed her mind about our trip.

Two weeks before my friend and I were to leave on our trip, my friend ran into an old boyfriend that she had the year before. They had not been together for over ten months, and he had been dating someone else. Although my friend and I had already bought many of the supplies for our camping trip and had made all our plans, in just a few short hour everything changed. That night my friend called and told me that she would not be going on our camping trip after all. Her former boyfriend had invited her to go with him to California instead, and she readily accepted without a thought for me and the trip that we had planned.

I learned a painful, but valuable lesson from this incident. While my friend and I still remained friends, I never felt that I could ever trust her again. By the way, I found someone else to go on the camping trip with and had a wonderful time even though I missed the company of the friend that I had made all the plans with.

Good luck and have fun with your Friendship/Trust journal entry.
