Memorable Character Journal Entry

Everyone is unique and we all usually have an interaction with someone in our lives who has perhaps influenced us and who we will always remember. In this journal entry, you need to write about a memorable character you have known who has left you with a lasting impression.

The following is a sample journal entry on a memorable character.

A Unique Teacher

Like everyone else, I have had many teachers over the years. Some of them have been great teachers who taught me many things. Some of them were mediocre who taught me some things. There were even a couple who never should have been teachers or at least who should have retired much sooner than they did. However, there is one teacher who has forever stayed in my memory as a very unique, memorable teacher. He was tall with balding gray hair and pale skin. He looked at his new class from behind his glasses with almost an air of arrogance. He looked as if he might like to flunk the entire class out of spite. After the first two days of class, there was something different about him compared to past teachers.

His classroom itself was very different. There were no desks; instead, two series of tables shaped into a square filled the room. He covered the walls with newspaper editorials, movie posters, and a large library of books in a bookcase that he changed weekly to keep everything up to date.

He was a man of few words considering his profession was teaching. His classes were discussions; wherein, the students would learn from the insights of others in the class. He would speak during the discussion only to steer it back on the right course or to praise someone's wise comment.

Everyday of class was a surprise. One day we would discuss the book read the week before. Then to complement the discussion on the book, he would show the class a film dealing with a theme similar to the book. Then there would be a test. It would consist of a two to three page essay that would not only cover the book but would also include the film. The films would not be the normal movie hits either. Instead, he showed small films that many people had never heard of. The plots were never simple; they always dealt with a serious subject in an intelligent manner.

Although he was so different, and it seemed as though he never directly taught us anything, he grew to become the most influential teacher I have ever had. I feel very lucky to have had the experience of being in the classroom with this teacher. Luckily, he listened to his calling and spent many years making a difference in many lives.

Good luck and have fun with your Memorable Character journal entry!
