Profile

I have taught at MCC since 1997, both online and face-to-face. I have also worked as a tutor in the Writing Center. Classes I have taught range from composition (101 and 102) to creative writing and screenwriting to linguistics and technical writing to literature and ENH (English humanities). I hold a PhD in literature from Arizona State University.

What kind of teacher am I? I like to provide students with detailed information at the start of any class so that they can decide if it is the best class for them. If they do, I expect them to do their best and to abide by the class policies, attend regularly, and complete work on time. In return, I am happy to answer questions, offer advice, and provide guidance in the effort to master the concepts and to demonstrate them effectively. Students with a positive attitude, strong work ethic, ability to follow instructions closely, good self-discipline, and active desire to learn and improve usually do well. But you get out what you put in.
