Create an MCC Email AccountAll students must create a Mesa Community College (MCC) email account. Your MCC email username and password will also grant grant you access to MyMCC and Blackboard. There are also instructions for students who already have an MCC email account but have forgotten their username and/or password. Some students may aleady have a personal email account they prefer to use, so the document also includes instructions on how to forward your MCC email to your preferred email account. There are no files to submit for this activity. After creating the account students will have an email account and also gain access to MyMCC and Blackboard, and appear in the instructor's electronic roster. 1. Find and open Internet Explorer using the Start button. 2. In the address box enter www.mc.maricopa.edu/apps/mymcc/ 3. Click on the link to Create MCC Mail Account. If you have created an account in the past, but have forgotten your username or password, click on the Forgot Username or Forgot Password option. 4. The following information will need to be entered: Student Id: (This is your assigned 8 digit student id in My.Maricopa.edu) Birthday: Your birthday is used as a PIN. Select the Month, Day, and Year from the drop down menus. Username: (Enter the desired username). The username must be between 4 and 8 characters. Usernames must begin with a letter. Usernames may only contain lowercase letters (a through z) and/or numbers (0 through 9). If select a username that is already in use, you'll be asked to select another one. Email address will be: username@mesacc.edu Guidelines: Click on the check box to indicate you have read the Username Guidelines. Password: (Enter a password code to access your account after it is created.) Confirm Password: (Re-enter the password to verify you have typed in correctly.) a. Your password must contain at least one lowercase letter. b. Your password must contain at least one uppercase letter. c. Your password must contain at least one number. d. Your password cannot contain any special characters. e. Your password must be between seven and twenty characters. Click on Submit The account should be created for you in 20 minutes or so. 5. You will be able to access your email account in the lab and from home or other locations with Zimbra (https://zimbra.mesacc.edu/). Zimbra is a web based application that allows you to read and send email, and it works with most internet browsers. 6. Forwarding Your MCC E-mail. If you already have an email account with another provider and would like to only use one email account, you can forward your MCC email to your preferred email address. However, you must use the email username and password to access Blackboard and MyMcc. Consider forwarding your MCC email to your MEID@maricopa.edu email account, and then forward that email to your preferred email account. MCC will be migrating to MEID@maricopa.edu late Fall 2009. If you do not wish to forward your email, then skip this step. 1. Go to Zimbra (https://zimbra.mesacc.edu/) 2. Login if necessary. 3. Click on Preferences to bring the Preferences Tab to the foreground. 4. Under Preferences, click on Mail to bring the Mail Preferences to the foreground. 5. Scroll down to the Receiving Messages section. 6. Enter the email address to forward to in the Forward a copy to text box. 7. Click on the box to add a check mark in front of Don't keep a local copy of messages. 8. Test the forwarding address was entered correctly by sending yourself an email message from your preferred account to your MCC email address: username@messcc.edu 9. If it was entered correctly you should receive the email message back in your preferred account. 7. After you have created the email account, your email address will show up in your class's email listing in MyMCC. You can verify that your account was created by clicking on MyClasses in MyMCC (www.mc.maricopa.edu/apps/mymcc/). You will need to login using the username and password entered above. 8. Quit Internet Explorer.
