Lab - Microsoft Access - 100 points

  • Students will need to log into MyITLab. Remember to use Internet Explorer.
  • The labs are listed as training in MyITLab.
  • The training in MyITLab uses a simulated environment.
  • The online training sessions mirror the labs in the Skills for Success lab book.
  • Use the Skills for Success lab book as a reference when completing the labs in MyITLab.
  • You'll have 3 attempts to successfully complete each lab.
  • Need to complete each training session with a 70% correctness in order to earn credit for it.
  • At the end of the training, there is a Performance Exam that must also be completed.
  • Log into MyITLab
  • Click on Course Content tab.
  • To get to the first training lab
            Click on Access 2007 folder.
            Click on Access Chapter 1: Working with Database Managment Systems.
            Click on Access Chapter 1 Project-Based Training.
     
  • After a few seconds, the training will launch.
  • The entire desktop will be taken over.
  • You can not switch to other applications using Alt-tab.
  • After completing the training, click on Submit for grading.
  • Click on Save for Later if you need to exit and continue the training at a later time. You should be able to continue from where you left off.
  • Complete and submit Access Chapter 1 Project-Based Training inside MyITLab.
    Read and use Access Chapter 1: Working with Database Managment Systems, Skills 1 - 10, p. 302-325 as a guide.

    View the following videos to help you prepare for the Performance Test:
    Access Chapter 2, Skills 1, 2, and 8.
    Access Chapter 3, Skills 1, 2, 3, and 4.
    Access Chapter 4, Skills 1, and 3.
    Read and use the corresponding Access chapters and skills to review and prepare for exam.
    40 pts
    Complete and submit Access Performance Test inside MyITLab.
    Review the Skills covered above in Access Chapters 1-4 to complete test.
    30 pts

    Submitting Your Assignment:
    • Sign into Blackboard, and enter the date you completed all of the training and performance test into the Submission textbox. Do not send through email.
    • Instructor will then check your submissions in MyITLab and enter your score in Blackboard.

     

     

     

     

     

     

    The way Access stores information is different from the applications we have covered so far. Before data can be entered into a database, tables must be defined. After defining the tables, data can entered, and forms, reports and queries can be created. All of the database objects and the actual data are stored together in the Access file.
